Albany Poets is currently looking for people to assist us in various tasks in effort to promote poetry and spoken word through out the Northeast and beyond.

ALBANY POETS

Flyering / Street Team
We are looking for volunteers to help us spread the word of poetry and spoken word in the Albany area by flyering bulletin boards and local venues with information on Albany Poets and upcoming projects and events.  We are looking to fill spots all throughout the greater capital district area as well as south to Woodstock and north to Glens Falls.  If you are interested, please send an email to info@albanypoets.com for more information.

Bookstore Liaison
We are looking for volunteers to deliver flyers, posters, OTHER: and other printed materials to local bookstores and coffee shops all over the area.  We are currently seeking volunteers for the Pine Hills area, Lark Street / Center Square, SUNY-Albany area in Albany.  Also Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga County and beyond.  If you are interested in helping Albany Poets spread the word, send an email to info@albanypoets.com for more information on this opportunity.

Event Coordinators
Ever want to put together an event?  Ever want to book a band or performer to play a show?  Well now is your chance to do just that.  Albany Poets is looking for a motivated volunteer who want s to bring together the best of the poetry and spoken word world with up-and-coming bands and musicians.  If you are interested in helping us put together great events, send an email to info@albanypoets.com.

MySpace Manager
We are currently seeking a volunteer to maintain our MySpace presence as well as other social networking sites that we may work with in the future.  Responsibilities include posting events, bulletins, and news articles to MySpace as well as adding and communicating with “friends” on the site to broaden the spoken word and poetry community.

Columnists and Bloggers
We are looking for people to add to our website and blog by writing columns about poetry and spoken word as well as contributing to the Albany Poets Blog with interesting and though provoking content on the arts.

Events Calendar Editor
We are looking for a volunteer to make certain that the events calendar is the most up-to-date resource for poets not only in the upstate New York.  We are looking to expand our reach to include Western New England and areas North and South of Albany, even including the New York City area.  This volunteer would be working closely with event hosts and venues to ensure that the information on our website is current and correct.  Other duties include creating and maintaining maps of the poetry venues listed.

OTHER:

Columnist for OTHER:
We are in search of columnists and writers for our monthly magazine, OTHER:.  In order to expand the scope of OTHER: to a local arts and lifestyle magazine we are looking for people who will be able to write about different areas of the arts community.   We are looking for articles on poetry, spoken word, visual arts, music, and the performing arts. 

Web Producer
We are also looking to expand the web presence of the magazine in order to compliment the magazine.  If you have basic HTML writing and editing skills along with general design experience, please send an email to info@albanypoets.com.

AV / Multimedia

Podcast Producer
We have recorded hours and hours of local poetry readings, open mics, and spoken word events and now we need to do something with them.  If you have an interest in working with editing audio clips and putting together a weekly podcast highlighting the best and brightest of the upstate poetry scene, send an email to info@albanypoets.com.

Video Producer / Editor
We have also compiled hours of video of events and would like to put them on our website and even out together DVDs of our shows.  If you have any experience in video editing or would like to start working with us in this endevour, please end us an email to info@albanypoets.com

DONATE

Albany Poets is accepting donations to help us promote the poets and poetry of Upstate New York. All the money collected will be used to fund spoken word events, poetry open mics, the annual Albany Word Fest, as well as production and distribution of our zine, "Other:____" and upcoming CDs featuring poets and spoken word artists from the Albany area.
