PATRICIA A. PANEPINTO

SECOND COMING

Have I stopped loving you?
No,
not completely.
Have I forgotten you?
No, you’re unforgettable.
Will I leave you at the shore
and allow you to seek other roots?
When you did seek other roots,
altho’ distance, pain and disillusionment resulted
I did not abandon you.
WE chose, I thought
to heal, learn, walk a different path
begin anew, become friends again
step by step
perhaps leading
to depths of intimacy and joy
surpassing what we had.
It was you who left me at the shore.
You decided - alone
To leave me - alone.
Do I see you in my mind’s eye
when a time, place or event
flashes in my mind?
Do I miss your
stroking my hair as I fall asleep?
Do I hear your voice
when other voices speak ‘your’ words?
Yes..
It no longer hurts to see, feel, miss or hear
the memories of many memorable and small moments,
they give me pleasure, make my eyes smile.
You are and always will remain special to me
I believe we will always be special to each other.
The remake, clone, duplicate
is never the same as the original BUT
it can be new and improved
re invented
a second coming.
