FARRAH NAYKA ASHLINE

LOVE IN NATURE

This mercurial desert has long ago shown me
that the path to forevermore is not like a tree
Its root can stand in certainty but still break off suddenly
from a storm that cuts its circulation off, copiously
The sun has stroked its fervor with a patient lullaby
singing about turmeric, red chilies and magenta skies
Caressing its love-song in salt-waters, shaking out their cries
For when Apollo’s arrow hits their fragile egos in denial
he hits them ten times harder and faster, smirking all the while
The making of a couple is the hardest crop to harvest
Its takes more than spilling seeds and praying hope for the best
And when doubt creeps up behind daylight, an eclipse of miracle occurs
Making the Sun-God’s hold loosen gently, if only a little to capture Her.
Night falls tenderly, an aroma of mint-tea and delight
As two lovers reconnect passionately all throughout the night.
Finally, after an entire day’s worth of work, Nature made it right. Again.

BEAUTIFUL SOUL

Beautiful soul.
Full of something more, irresistible flair
Picking your heart up everywhere
My backside shines when you are around
Pushing me up, shaking the ground
Pitter patter right up to my smile
I keep telling you now to stay awhile
Blueberry skies take us away....another year closing
Nothing remains the same
I crave another minute where we light another dream
Imagine everything in the palm of your hand
Hear that heart pounding to make you understand
We are part of each other’s memories, the earth’s backbone
It is for this reason alone that I am sure you are my home.
